Sometimes we lose more in an effort to save that is very trivial. It
would be fortunate on our part if we could realize what is lost sooner, or ever
late than never. Here I am trying to promulgate the incident wherein I
experienced the same that is I “lost more in an effort to save something that
is very trivial”. But in this case fortuitously my loss was also trivial.
However the incident was worth sharing.
Hyderabad is the capital of Andra Pradesh (AP) and it was my first
visit to the city. Although I had been to AP many a times, I had never visited
Hyderabad. But I had heard about the city from my close acquaintances. I
started coloring my own view of Hyderabad. Cobbling every piece of information
I knew, I had colored it in all the shades that made Hyderabad look more
beautiful than the city I dwell in.
Hyderabad-Secundarabad, called only “Hyderabad”, is the twin city of
India. Latter is like the old town with vintage buildings, some of which are
still used as the assembly house and others are not even in the condition to
dwell. Former is “the developed” part aboarding all the brands, showrooms, IT
companies and everything that is required to be tagged “developed”.
On the way to our lodge from the Secundarabad railway
station, we happen to pass the Hussain Sagar Lake. It is the largest lake I
have ever seen, especially in the heart of state capital. There is a road that
runs along the perimeter of the lake which is 11kms long. This fact will give
the clear view of how big the lake is. There is also a statue of Buddha that
faces the main road and it looks beautiful in the night. “Eat Street” is
something that is adjacent to the lake. It’s the array of stalls wherein all
types of food is available (best place for food-ies like me B) ). The best part
of Eat Street is that one gets to sit by the side of the lake and enjoy the
food. Eat street is a place worth visiting and as advised by friends who told
me about the city, we decided to drop by for dinner.
Since we were not aware of the directions in the new city, we
decided to take a rickshaw to Eat Street. In my city we have a meter to decide
the tariff for travelling particular distance unlike in Hyderabad and there are
many other things in which Hyderabad differs from my city, which I felt was a
bit weird. When I accosted to find the rickshaw to take us to our much awaited
destination, he asked us to pay an amount that was absolutely disproportionate
to the distance. And second rickshaw-wala asked us to pay a little lesser than
the first one which was also more. This is when I thought ‘let me try to find
the rickshaw with a better deal and I could save some penny’ and started
looking for other rickshaw. Finally, one rickshaw-wala had a meter and we
decided on taking that rickshaw. Although we didn’t know the exact route and
the distance to the eat street, we well acquainted of the fact that it wasn’t
very far. But that driver went on
beating about the bush with us. He took us through the longest possible way, as
I can put it across. We indeed realized that we were being tricked, but there
was nothing we could do. And when we got down at our destination, we had to
literally pay much more than the amount the first rickshaw-wala offered and I
realized how foolish I was. And I took an oath that I’ll not try these kind of
tricks on something that I don’t know especially in an unknown place. And this
is the “story of how I lost more to save something that is trivial”.
What I lost is indeed trivial, but we must be careful because it
need not be trivial always. Sometimes we lose something that can’t be replaced
by anything. It may be due to ignorance or knowingly, but the loss can’t be
compensated. We have to respect every little thing, every person and every
relation we are attached to. At times it will be good to forget and forgive someone,
before we realize forgiving a person is better than losing him. All I want to
say is “FORGET AND FORGIVE, AND BE HAPPY BECAUSE LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO LOATH SOMEONE”...!!
